This role involves managing and optimizing Deel’s database systems to ensure data integrity, security, and high availability. The Database Administrator is critical for maintaining the infrastructure that supports Deel’s data operations and guaranteeing efficient database performance. You will collaborate with various teams to design, implement, and manage database environments, optimize performance, and protect critical data from loss or unauthorized access. Your efforts will ensure that Deel’s business data is consistently accessible, secure, and performs optimally, facilitating data-driven decisions across the organization.

Requirements

3+ years administering production PostgreSQL databases 3+ years administering production Oracle databases Proficient in reading and writing SQL queries including window functions Proficient in DB programming - creating triggers, functions etc. Proficient in Data Modelling - designing tables and relations Proficient in performance tuning Capable of supporting live incidents Experience with Git (version control) Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Experience with other RDBMS and NoSQL databases is a plus 1+ years of High-Level Programming experience (nice to have) 1+ years of managing cloud databases (AWS, GCP) (nice to have)

Responsibilities

Support and guide developers on database related development and design best practices Review and approve database-related code written by developers Monitor database health and performance metrics Support live incidents and respond to alerts (errors, locks, deadlocks, availability etc.) Perform maintenance tasks including backup and restore, engine upgrades, data migrations and parameter changes Create database functions and triggers Maintain and improve Data Integrity Improve performance - find problematic queries or parameters and advise on solutions
